Starting The Engines

Tractor engine must be started first.

1. Move transmission control to NEUTRAL.

2. Turn to engage transmission safety lock.

3. Push brake control to PARK, if so equipped.

4. Push cushion hitch, bail or single lever hitch and bail control to LOCK-DOWN and BAIL DOWN. Be sure hitch and bail area are clear before moving control.

5. Move scraper controls to HOLD.

6. Turn disconnect switch ON.

Tractor Engine

Above 60°F (16°C)

7. Depress accelerator just past detent.

8. Turn switch to START. Release switch when engine starts.

Below 60°F (16°C)

7. Depress accelerator just past detent and turn switch to HEAT for indicated time.

8. Turn switch to START. Release switch when engine starts.

When Starting Fluid is Required

7. Depress tractor accelerator just past detent.

8. Turn switch to HEAT for indicated time.

Never operate electric starter for more than 30 seconds without allowing 2 minutes cooling before using again.

9. Turn switch to START and spray starting fluid sparingly into precleaner while cranking.

10. When engine starts, it may be necessary to return switch to HEAT until engine runs smoothly. Release switch.

Starting With Boost

When using jumper cables, be sure to connect in parallel: Negative (-) to negative (-) and positive (+) to positive (+).


NOTICE

Use starting fluid sparingly. Follow manufacturers instructions carefully.

Never switch to HEAT when engine is warm and running.


Scraper Engine

Above 60°F (16°C)

Ejector must be to the rear of the bowl.

9. Depress tractor and scraper accelerators to 1/2 engine speed.

10. Push to engage accelerator lock.

11. Push governor control out of shut off position.

12. Press scraper start button. Release button when engine starts.

Below 60°F (16°C)

9. Depress tractor and scraper accelerators to 1/2 engine speed and push to engage accelerator lock.

10. With governor control in shut off position, press start button and crank engine a few revolutions. (Crank engine longer in colder temperatures.)

11. Push governor control out of shut off position. Press heat button for indicated time. (See chart on page 21.)

12. Press start button and heat button until engine starts. Heat button may be held until engine runs smoothly.


NOTICE

Use starting fluid below 32°F (0°C). Spray into precleaner only while cranking engine. Use fluid sparingly. Follow manufacturer's instructions carefully.

Never press heat button or start button when the scraper engine is warm and running.


Starting Scraper Engine From Tractor-Start scraper engine from tractor only after scraper engine has been stopped for a short period of time.

9. Depress tractor and scraper accelerator pedals to 1/2 engine speed.

10. Press scraper start button. Release button when engine starts.
