Cleaning Air Cleaner Elements
Pressure Air-100 PSI Maximum
- 1. Direct air inside element along length of pleats.
- 2. Direct air outside element along length of pleats.
- 3. Direct air inside element along length of pleats.
- 4. Check element.
Water-40 PSI Maximum
- 1. Direct water inside element along length of pleats.
- 2. Direct water outside element along length of pleats.
- 3. Rinse inside of element.
- 4. Air dry thoroughly. Check element.
Detergent
- 1. Wash in warm water and non-sudsing household detergent.
- 2. Rinse with clean water (40 PSI max.). Direct water inside along pleats. Direct water on outside along pleats. Rinse inside of element.
- 3. Air dry thoroughly. Check element.
Checking Element
- 1. Insert light inside clean and dry element.
- 2. Check for pin holes and tears. Discard element if any are found.
- 3. Wrap and store good elements in a clean dry place.
Do not clean element by bumping or tapping.
Have spare elements on hand to use while cleaning used elements.
Do not use elements with damaged pleats, gaskets or seals.
(26)Fuel System Filters
Primary Fuel Filter-Clean Element When Fuel Pressure Gauge Registers Out
ALWAYS INSTALL LIFT ARM SUPPORT BEFORE SERVICING ENGINE AREA |
- 1. Close fuel valve.
- 2. Remove side cover. Remove cover and element.
- 3. Wash element and case in clean kerosene or diesel fuel.
- 4. Install element and cover.
- 5. Open fuel valve. Start engine and check fuel pressure gauge.
Change final fuel filters if fuel pressure gauge still registers OUT with engine running.
Final Fuel Filters-Change
ALWAYS INSTALL LIFT ARM SUPPORT BEFORE SERVICING ENGINE AREA. |
- 1. Close fuel valve.
- 2. Remove filters.
- 3. Clean gasket surfaces of filter base.
- 4. Lubricate filter gaskets with diesel fuel.
- 5. Install new filters. Tighten until gasket surface contacts base, then tighten additional 1/2 turn.
- 6. Open fuel valve. Prime fuel system.
- 7. Start engine and check for leaks.
Priming The Fuel System

- 1. Open vent valve.
- 2. Unlock priming pump.
- 3. Operate pump plunger up and down until ...
- 4. Flow of fuel from drain tube is free of air bubbles.
- 5. Close vent valve and lock priming pump.
(27)Bucket Teeth-Replace Tip
- 1. Drive pin out.
- 2. Slide tip off.
- 3. Check plug. Metal part of plug must be toward pin hole.
- 4. Slide tip over adapter to align pin holes and install pin.
