(20)Transmission, Bevel Gear And Steering Clutch Compartment
Change Oil and Wash Suction Screen
- 1. Remove transmission and bevel gear drain plug.
- 2. Remove drain plugs from steering clutch compartments.
- 3. Lower hinged guard.
- 4. Remove drain plug from converter.
- 5. Remove cover and screen.
- 6. Separate screen from cover.
- 7. Wash screen in clean kerosene or diesel fuel.
- 8. Attach screen to cover and install cover, screen and drain plug in converter. Close guard.
- 9. Install steering clutch compartment drain plugs.
- 10. Install transmission and bevel gear drain plug.
- 11. Fill compartment. (Refill capacity on page 36.)
- 12. Check oil level and add oil if required. Operate Traxcavator a few minutes and recheck oil level.
(21)Sprocket Hub Bearings
Check Adjustment:
- 1. Remove guards.
- 2. Place a 5' (1,5 m) bar between the track roller frame and the sprocket. Pry on the bar. If play is noticeable, adjust bearings.
To Adjust Bearings:
- 1. Remove lock.
- 2. Remove cap and lock.
- 3. Loosen adjusting nut (clockwise).
- 4. Tighten retaining nut to 500-600 lbs. ft. (70-80 mkg).
- 5. Tighten adjusting nut (counterclockwise). Use a 5 foot (1,5 m) extension on wrench.
- 6. Install lock.
- 7. Install lock and cover.
- 8. Install all guards.
(22)Final Drives-Change Oil
- 1. Remove fill plugs.
- 2. Remove drain plugs.
- 3. Drain oil from final drives.
- 4. Install drain plugs.
- 5. Fill compartments to level of fill plug opening. (Refill capacity on page 36.)
- 6. Install fill plugs. Check oil level after a few minutes operation. Add oil if necessary.
