(41)Air Cleaner Elements

Service elements when indicator shows RED with engine at full load.

Never service air cleaner elements with engine running.

Servicing Primary Elements

1. Remove covers and primary elements.

2. Clean inside body.

3. Clean covers.

4. Clean and inspect elements. (see pages 32 and 33).

5. Install clean elements and covers.

If indicator shows red shortly after cleaning and primary elements have been cleaned 6 to 8 times, change elements.

If new primary elements were used and indicator shows red, clean secondary elements.

Servicing Secondary Elements

1. Remove covers and primary elements.

2. Remove secondary elements.

3. Cover air inlet openings.

4. Clean and inspect elements. Use new gaskets.

5. Uncover air inlet openings and install secondary elements.

6. Install primary elements and covers.

If indicator shows red shortly after cleaning, change secondary elements.

Cleaning With Pressure Air

1. Use clean dry air. (100 PSI maximum)

2. Direct air inside element, along length of pleats.

3. Direct air outside element, along length of pleats.

4. Direct air inside element, along length of pleats.

5. Check element. (See page 33)

Do not attempt to clean element by bumping or tapping.

Never use elements with damaged pleats, gaskets or seals.

Cleaning With Water

1. Use clean water. (40 PSI maximum)

2. Direct water inside element along length of pleats.

3. Direct water outside element along length of pleats.

4. Rinse inside of element.

5. Air dry thoroughly. Check element. (See page 33)

Have spare elements on hand to use while cleaning and drying elements.

Cleaning with Detergent

1. Wash in warm water and non-sudsing household detergent.

2. Rinse with clean water (40 PSI max.). Direct water inside element, along length of pleats.

3. Direct water outside element, along length of pleats.

4. Rinse inside of element.

5. Air dry thoroughly. Check element.

Checking Element

1. Insert light inside element.

2. Check for pin holes and tears. Discard element if holes or tears are found.

3. If element is good, install in air cleaner or wrap and store in a clean dry place.

Pressurizer Filter Elements

1. Open panel to expose elements.

2. Clean and check elements similar to air cleaner elements.

(42)Fuel System Filters

Primary Fuel Filter - Clean When Fuel Pressure Gauge Registers OUT.

1. Remove cover and element.

2. Wash element in clean kerosene or diesel fuel.

3. Dry with pressure air and install element and cover.

Final Fuel Filter - Change Elements

1. Open filter housing drain valve.

2. Remove cover and elements.

3. Clean inside of housing. Close drain valve.

4. Install new elements. Install cover.

5. Prime fuel system.

Final Fuel Filter - Drain

1. Open filter housing vent.

2. Open filter housing drain. Close drain when housing is empty. Close vent.

3. Prime fuel system.

Priming The Fuel System

1. Open filter housing vent.

2. Open injection pump housing vent.

3. Operate pump until fuel flows from vent.

4. Close filter housing vent. Start engine.

5. Bleed for 30 seconds. Close injection pump housing vent.

(43)Bucket Teeth - Replace Tip

1. Drive pin out.

2. Slide tip off.

3. Check plug. Metal part of plug must be towards pin hole.

4. Install tip in either position.

5. Slide tip over shank to align pin holes and install pin.
