(39)Hydraulic System - Change Oil, Wash Filler and Rod End Line Screens

1. Drain system when oil is warm. Raise bucket and stop engine.

2. Remove fill caps slowly to relieve pressure.

3. Remove plug and drain rear tank.

4. Open valve and drain front tank.

5. Move lift control to lower bucket.

6. Clean and install plug in rear tank.

7. Close valve on front tank.

Change filter elements. (See item 22.)

8. Remove both oil filler screens.

9. Remove covers and rod end line screens from both cylinders.

10. Wash screens in clean kerosene or diesel fuel.

11. Install screens.

12. Tighten cover bolts on rod end line screens to 85 ± 5 lb. ft. (11,8 ± 0,7 mkg).

13. Loosen bleed plugs.

14. Fill rear tank to top of fill screen.

15. Fill front tank to top of fill screen.

16. Place hydraulic controls in HOLD and start engine.

17. Close bleed valves when oil flows without air bubbles.

18. Run engine at low idle and refill rear tank.

19. Move lift control to RAISE.

20. Move lift control to HOLD when cylinder rods begin to move. Refill rear tank.

21. Extend lift cylinders 10 inches (254 mm) and refill rear tank.

22. Repeat step 21 until cylinder rods are within 16 inches (406 mm) of full extension.

23. Extend and retract lift cylinders fully.

24. Return lift control to HOLD immediately, when cylinders reach the end of their stroke. Do not use FLOAT position. Refill rear tank.

25. Operate lift and tilt controls and steer full left and full right.

26. Check oil level. Add oil to rear tank and bleed system if necessary.

27. Check oil level and bleed system several times during the first day of operation.

Valve Lash Setting

1. Adjust valves with engine stopped.

2. Remove camshaft covers.

3. Remove inspection cover.

4. Remove pinion and spacer.

5. Install pinion without spacer.

6. Turn pinion to align hole in flywheel housing with hole in flywheel.

7. Install 3" (76 mm) bolt (removed in step 3) in flywheel.

The valves for No. 1 or No. 11 cylinder are closed at this point.

If valves for No. 1 cylinder are closed - adjust exhaust valves 1, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 12.

Adjust inlet valves 1, 3, 6, 7, 10 and 12.

If valves for No. 11 cylinder are closed - adjust exhaust valves 2, 3, 7, 8, 10 and 11.

Adjust inlet valves 2, 4, 5, 8, 9 and 11.

8. Turn adjusting screw clockwise until it contacts valve stem. Turn screw counterclockwise specified number of clicks on detent (page 29).

9. Remove bolt and turn flywheel 360°.

10. Install bolt in flywheel. Adjust remaining valves.

11. Remove pinion. Install spacer under pinion.

12. Remove bolt from flywheel.

13. Install inspection cover.

14. Install camshaft covers.
