Starting The Engine

4.1. Starting With Boost

1. Be sure safety link is in carry position.

2. Engage parking brake.

3. Move range selector to NEUTRAL.

4. Apply range selector safety lock.

5. Move dozer and equipment controls to HOLD.

6. Turn disconnect switch ON.

Above 60° F (16° C)

7. Depress accelerator past detent.

8. Move HEAT-START switch to START.

9. Release switch when engine starts.

Below 60° F (16° C)

7. Depress accelerator past detent and move switch to HEAT for indicated time.

8. Move switch to START.

9. Switch to OFF when engine starts.

When Ether is Required

7. Depress accelerator past detent.

8. Insert capsule.

9. Switch to HEAT for indicated time.

NOTE: Do not use more than 2 capsules without cranking engine. Never switch to HEAT when engine is warm and running.

10. Switch to START.

11. Discharge capsule or spray ether into air inlet. Use ether with caution.

12. When engine starts it may be necessary to return switch to HEAT until engine runs smoothly.

Starting With Boost

When using jumper cables - be sure to connect in parallel: negative (-) to negative (-) and positive (+) to positive (+)
